I am a collector and maker of dolls, a collage and assemblage artist, and have been a quiltmaker for over twenty five years, focusing primarily upon originally designed wall quilts. I have participated in many shows in art galleries and shown my quilts at numerous quilt venues, and recently have begun to exhibit my dolls.
Dolls have always been magical to me and I have always recognized the human spirit in their form, embracing dolls as friendly beings. About ten years ago I began to study with serious doll makers, and, over time, I have become interested in designing my own dolls. At the present time, my dolls are primarily constructed in cloth, although I have also been experimenting with stick dolls, paper clay forms, and paper dolls. Although a few of my dolls have faces scanned from photographs, most of the doll faces are hand painted and I am consistently fascinated as I watch the personality of the doll emerge.
Dolls represent to me the goodness and optimism of childhood, as well as the mysteries of the human spirit. Please join me on this magical journey.
